Holiday event at the Women's Club of Fort Lauderdale

As one of Miami's top fashion and culture reporters, I was at the Christmas party for members of the Women's Club of Fort Lauderdale. The Event was Wednesday evening. I will have much more to say about it in Tropic Style Magazine, but this was a wonderful evening. The guests were treated to entertainment by a group of local musicians. The talented Margaret Iannaccone sang a selection of Christmas songs while One of the other writers for Tropic Style, Mr. T. R. Myers provided piano accompaniment. The schedule consisted of three songs performed by Iannaccone and Myers, Silent Night, Do You See What I See, and Jingle Bells, a DJed selection of popular Christmas music and Myers playing some of his favorite pieces at random intervals during the show. Tropic Style Magazine will have exclusive photos!

Did the world end in Miami yesterday?

It seems that the world did not end on Dec. 21 like so many people thought it would. It sure was a cold day in Miami which did feel strange even if it is December. I went to K mart to do a bit of holiday shopping and I'm telling you I had to stop and question if the world really did end. Let me say I hate stores like K mart, Walmart etc. They attract the most dangerous shopping cart drivers in society. Anyhoo..if you have ever shopped at K mart in Miami you know that they love air conditioning and keep it in deep freeze mode all year long. Yesterday, not only was the AC shut off but they actually had the HEAT on. Truly a when hell freezes over moment.

A Broken Hearted Fashion blogger

Hi everybody. There hasn’t been any fashion news posted here in a few days. Like most of us in the country, I am very shaken by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary that took place Friday morning. Writing about fashion seems rather selfish and cold when I know that so many families are in so much pain. Even though I am not directly affected-I do not know any of these people I can’t stop crying. When I first heard about this horrible incident, I had gone to a café to enjoy a nice lunch and sift through the press releases that I received. The café, has large televisions that were all showing CNN. Where I was on this day and time is forever etched in my memory as it is in everybody else’s. Instead of a relaxing afternoon, I suffered an anxiety attack. An anxiety attack in someone so far away who had no connection to any of the victims. I cannot be the only person who had that kind of reaction to the news and I can only imagine what the families of these victims are feeling. We all want answers that may never be known. December 14th, was indeed a very sad day for all of us and a very sad day for our country.
